Morris Foy, born Oct 14, 1800 in Jones Co., NC.

(2)Enoch married Annapolis Sanderson Apr 5, 1805 in Jones Co., NC.

Harriet Foy, born Abt. 1836; married Cyrus Foscue May 12, 1859.

(4)Enoch married Rachel Ellis Hancock Bef. 1841.

There is some difference of opinion about when Rachel and Enoch married. At least one researcher believes that some of the later children listed with Phoebe here were actually the children of Rachel.

This is from a book published in 1901 by the State of North Carolina. The State Legislature found that many of the veterans were dying off and (rightly) feared that the last sources of first-hand history were on the verge of being lost forever. The Legislature commissioned Walter Clark (Justice of the State Supreme Court) to compile histories by having each history written by a survivor of each regiment, battalion and brigade. He then compiled them with some light editing. The copyright on this book expired years ago.

SIXTY-SEVENTH REGIMENT
By RUFUS W. WHARTON, Lieutenant-Colonel

28 April, 1901

"The Sixty-seventh Regiment (N.C.Troops), was organized in January, 1864, and was composed of nine companies of infantry and one of cavalry.
Company A, from Craven, James H. Tolson, Captain;
Company B, from Craven, Stephen Barrington, Captain;
Company C, from Wilson, D. W. Edwards, Captain;
Company E, Charles A. White Captain;
Company F, from Craven, David P. Whitford, Captain;
Company G, Asa W. Jones, Captain;
Company I, from Pitt, Edward F. White, Captain. The other three companies, viz:
Company D, from Craven, Daniel A. Cogdell, Captain;
Company H from Duplin, Jones and Craven, Christopher D. Foy, Captain;
Company K (cavalry), from Wayne, Joseph D. Myers, Captain."
. . .
"Captain Foy was a man of 60 years, was six feet and a half high, wore a long, flowing white beard that reached to his waist and was unique both in personal appearance and in the influence which he wielded over the men of his company. He was familiarly known in the regiment by the name of 'Tecumseh.' When this writer first saw him he was marching at the head of his company of 65 or 70 men, who were following him, Indian-like, in single file."

According to our information C D Foy was only 40 or so at the time of the war. He may have looked older due to premature gray hair or something of the sort. Also our information could be in error.
