The Rev. and Mrs. S. M. Ensor observed their Golden Wedding anniversary.
Their entire family was with them for the celebration.
The Rev and Mrs. S. M. Ensor were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. an Mrs. Paul Ensor, near Cross Plains, Tennessee, Saturday night. A picnic supper was enjoyed b the immediate family. Later in the evening many friends of the couple called. The main feature of the evening was the cutting of the cake which was decorated in gold. The gold color scheme was carried throughout the Ensor's country home. Mrs, Ozie Fulps presided at the Punch Bowl while Mrs. Billy Ensor, daughter-in-law of the honor guests, kept the register. Many beautiful and useful gifts were received by the couple. Mrs. Ensor was attired in a gray model with a corsage of yellow rose buds. Enjoyed by the family and their many friends was the account of their wedding day given by Mrs. Ensor. While she was giving the description of her wedding gown even greater surprise was the entrance of her daughter-in-law Mrs. Edward Ensor, who entered the room wearing the wedding gown which had been packed away for fifty years. Mrs. Ruth Woodall sang several selections that suited the occasion. Fifty-six called during the evening. |

Dinner Sunday
The Rev. and Mrs. S. M. Ensor were host at a family dinner in observance
of their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday at their home on the Barren Plains
Pike.
The Rev and Mrs. Ensor made the statement that it was the happiest
day of their lives. For the first time all eight of their children
were home and their families and several of their great grand children.
Those present were Rev. Ensor's brother, the Rev. John
Ensor and family of Saxton, Mo., and his brother-in-law, the Rev. Oscar
Gentry and family of Nashville; Mrs. Ensor's sister, Mrs. John H. Whitson
and Mr. Whitson of Cookeville.
Children present were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ensor of Louisville.Kentucy,
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Oakley, .of Livingston, Tn., Mrs. Christine O'Neal of
Gallatin; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ensor of Cross Plains; Mr. and Mrs. James Ensor
of Springfield; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ensor of Miami, Florida; Mr. and Mrs.
Atys Brunson of Atlanta, Georgia; and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Ensor of Springfield.
During the afternoon many friends called.
the same day as the celebration. |
Note: Simon was actually born with 2 club feet. He managed to straighten one out by wearing a wooden cheese box on one foot until it straightened.
