Last Will and Testament of William Cockriel

I, William Cockriel of Platte County, Missouri, do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament.

1. I give and devise to my nephew, William Cockriel of Platte County, Missouri, the following described tract or parcel of land, lying, being and situate in Platte County, Missouri, to-wit: The Southeast Quarter of Section Thirty-six (36) Township Fifty-Four (54) Range Thirty-three (33), known as the Maxey farm, to him the said William Cockriel, his heirs and assigns forever.

2. I will and devise to my wife, Martha J. Cockriel all the residue of my real estate, wherever situate, of which I may die possessed, to hold unto the said Martha J. Cockriel, for the term of her life, and after her death, to my nephew, William cockriel, his heirs and assigns forever.

3. I give and bequeath to my wife, Martha J. Cockriel, all my personal property of whatever kind, after the payment of all my just debts.

4. I name and appoint my nephew, William Cockriel, sole Executor of this my Last will and Testament, and that he be not required to give bond: hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand, this 24th day of December A.D. 1900.

APPLICATIONS FOR LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION
STATE OF MISSOURI County of Platte in the PROBATE COURT.

In the Matter of the Estate of William Cockriel Deceased.
William Cockriel says that, to the best of his knowledge and belief, the names of the widow and of the heirs of said William Cockriel, deceased and their places of residence, are respectively as follows: Martha J. Cockriel, widow, who resides in the County of Platte in the State of Missouri; that the said William Cockriel, died testate (died without a will is crossed out) on the 4th day of September 1902; that he will make a perfect inventory of and faithfully administer all the estate of the deceased, and pay the debts as far as the assets will extend and the law direct, and account for and pay all assets which shall come to him possession or knowledge. Received of William Cockriel, Jr. Executor of the estate of William Cockriel, deceased, the sum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars, in full of the due and coming to me under the First Order of Distribution of said estate made and entered in the Probate Court of Platte County, Missouri, on this the 8-th day of May 1903. The said sum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars so distributed and paid to me by said executor, includes notes and cash and all accrued interest on notes to this date, as follows:

In the Probate Court of Platte County, Missouri, April Term A.D. 1903

In the matter of the estate, William Cockriel, Deceased - petition for order of Distribution.

Now comes William Cockriel Jr and states to the Court that he is duly appointed, qualified and acting executor of the estate of William Cockriel, deceased, and that as such he has in his hands in personal assets, the sum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars, which he can safely distribute, without injury to the rights of creditors of said estate; that under the provisions of the Last Will and Testament of said William Cockriel, deceased, duly admitted to probate and record in this Court, Martha J. Cockriel, is the sole legatee of all the personal assets of said estate, and is the widow of said deceased.

wherefore your petitioner prays that an order be now entered directing and authorizing him to pay and distribute to said Martha J. Cockriel, sole legatee, the sum of Fifteen Thousand dollars as aforesaid, without awaiting the expiration of one year of his administration. (signature of Wm Cockriel Jr) Executor.
