Fat Lazy Dragons
The Main Characters

Trudy, whose real given name is Truth, is most concerned about what is true. This is true for the whole story. She wants to get home. She is very friendly and her compassion is easily stirred.

Jay, whose real given name is Justice, is most concerned about what is fair or just throughout the story. He wants to get home too, but also wants to be heroic, although not at the expense of being unfair to others.

Pass Key, the dovekie, is concerned about relationships, is compassionate, and is the logic expert. She is not very confident, so she teaches the children logic, but seldom participates in the battles with the dragons. She serves as the scout of the expedition.

High Key, the monkey, is high strung, prideful, and is the geography and history expert, although he has no sense of direction. His concern is speed unless he gets a chance to be the center of attention, in which case he is no longer in a hurry. He is very courageous and confident except when there is actual danger, so he hurries into danger, and then is eager to escape it. He is naturally self-centered, but when someone else makes him aware of the children's welfare, he wants to make sure of their safety and get them home as soon as possible. High is seldom right about anything outside his area of expertise, but has the best overall plan of attack, and correctly insists on more secrecy than the others, though they seldom listen to him.

Luggage Key, the donkey, usually gets stuck with lugging things. He is affable, humble, and eager to agree with whatever the others want to do. He is fearless and has great endurance. He is very wise but usually reticent to express himself. He is the magic expert, and although seldom if ever wrong, does not express certainty, unless there is no possible room for doubt.
