This series isn't really a series, in the same way the others are. It is sort of the "miscellaneous other" of courses that don't fit into any of our other categories.

Read the Bible Through in a Year Series

These courses consist of lessons for weekly Bible studies for a small group reading the Bible through in a year together. These courses are designed to be used in any calendar year. It is based on having 52 meetings in a year so it will work with any year, since all days of the week always occur at least 52 times in a year. Those who attend are expected to read 3 or 4 chapters of the Bible each day (10 chapters every 3 days) for 51 weeks.

Bible Poetry Course

This course of six lessons has been in use in our jail ministry for several years. It has always been by mail so I know it will work as a self study. I've never tried it as a small group Bible study. Please let me know if you use it that way, and how it worked.

The course is not about a particular book. Instead it takes selected chapters and passages, mostly from the poetry books of the Bible, and analyzes the poetry. Not only are the "poetry books" Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiates, and Song of Solomon full of Hebrew poetry but many other books in the Old Testament have large sections of Hebrew poetry. It can even be seen as a literary device in some passages of the New Testament. (The New Testament was written in Greek, but all but one of the writers was Hebrew.) Anyone who can master the technique used in this course will enhance not only his understanding of Scripture but also his enjoyment at reading it.

The Fruit of the Spirit Course

This course is based on Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." After a brief look in Lesson 1 at Galatians chapter 5, to understand the context, we study each of the fruits of the Spirit in some detail, not just in regards to what this chapter says about them, but also other places in the Bible that mention the same attribute.

Marriage God's Way

About 25 years ago we were having trouble in our marriage. We were perplexed. We decided that we would turn to God's Word. Using an exhaustive concordance we looked up every place in the Bible where it mentioned husband, wife, marry, wedding, etc. We read them, prayed over them and discussed them. We focused on the verses that spoke to us and are doing our best to obey what God told us. (i.e. Thor focused on the husband's obligations and Trish focused on the wife's obligations.) After 40+ years of marriage we are deeply in love. This course contains much of what we learned.

The Gifts of the Spirit Course

In this course we make no attempt distinguish between roles, gifts and "natural" talents. They all are gifts from God bestowed on us by the Spirit as He decides, when He sees fit, in the measure He determines. Whatever you have, you can pray for more. God's treasure chest is never emptied.

The Seven Spirits of God

Over twenty years ago I was reading Revelation and noticed that several times it mentions "the seven spirits of God." I studied this term at some length and was not able to come to a satisfactory conclusion regarding who or what these were. Several times since then I have tried the study again, but with similar results. I still do not have an answer that I am happy with, but the journey has been interesting and informative. The intention of this course is to share with you the journey, not a conclusion.
